EXTRA FEATURES
The Shot-Online Calculator consists of 2 Excel sheets: SO.xls and SO-EXTRA.xls.
The second sheet has some extra utilities that may help you you finetune the
calculator.
DISTANCE FORECAST
With the Distance Forecast grid you can predict the distances of a particular
club by hitting 3 times 4 test strokes at 100%, 90%, 80% and 70% power.
What you have to do is this. Open a Shot-Online session, I presume you have
already downloaded the game by now, go to the Driving Range practice fairway
and fiddle with the
weather conditions until you have Sunny weather, no wind at all and 25 degrees
Celsius. Make your shot and fill in the distance in the 'golden' grid for the
appropriate power.
After you have done the 3 sessions Excel will have forecasted the distances for
all the percentages, also those that you didn't shoot. Copy these predicted
distances in the
club distances grid
on the setup worksheet
of the SO.xls page.
Please use Copy - Paste Special - Values to copy the
distances or if you are not sure about all this, fill them in by hand.
WARNING
. These distances are 'fairway' distances, when a ball hits the green it can
bounce and roll a lot further than predicted.
For people with too much time there is also the option for 15 or 18 test shots
- adjust yellow cell E1 to the power level of your choice: 50 - 60 or 70
percent.
WIND FORECAST
With the Wind Forecast grid you can predict the wind influence
for the club of your choice.
Go to the Driving Range practice fairway in Shot-Online and fiddle with the
settings to have 25 degrees and sunny weather. Shoot 3 times with headwind at 1
and 3 m/s, do the same with 1 and 3 m/s tailwind. Fill in the distance of your
shots in the 'golden' grid for the appropriate windspeed.
After you have done ALL 3 sessions Excel will have calculated the wind
influence for your particular club in the
red
cell F7. The number should be somewhere between 0.015 and 0.045 (according to
most players). Copy this figure
to the Setup page -

hand.
WARNING
To get exact results you should hit all shots with a 100% 100% acurateness. As
this is virtually impossible (for me it is anyway) all stats will be
'indicators' rather than exact figures.
TEMPERATURE FORECAST
With the Temperature Forecast grid you can predict the temperature influence
for the club of your choice, using 12 test shots.
Go to the Driving Range practice fairway in Shot-Online. Fiddle with the
settings to have no wind and sunny weather, shoot 3 times at each temperature.
Fill in the distance of your shots in the 'golden' grid for the appropriate
temperature.
After you have done the 12 shots Excel will have evaluated the temperature
influence for your particular club in the red cells. Copy these numbers to the
Setup page -

For people with too much time there is also the option for 18 test shots
- adjust yellow cell G1 to the test level of your choice: 12 or 18 shots.
WARNING
I have always been yapping about different clubs but there are also different
balls in the game. To make your statistics as reliable as possible you have to
consider the ball type as well.
